In a show of hometown support, Boston Pizza has become "Vancouver Pizza"
in B.C. - for the duration of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, anyway.

@Region Philbis,
Boy that was a good game for Boston Smile What a rout! But I do think that Rome shouldn't have gotten a five minute AND a game misconduct for that hit - that was a bit much.

@Mame,

on replay it looks like he was aiming for the guy's head --

whether it was a good call or not, it sure did change the complexion of the game...

@Region Philbis,
I saw them replay it last night several times and yes, it was hard to decide... we just all felt it wasn't intentional, but we weren't on the ice, so who knows. Nasty that he had to be carried out on a stretcher, though... not good!

The Boston Bruins took the unusual step Tuesday of announcing that forward Nathan Horton would miss the rest of the Stanley Cup finals because of a “severe” concussion, the result of a hit by Vancouver defenseman Aaron Rome the night before in the first period of Game 3.

Rome was summoned for a hearing with Mike Murphy, the NHL’s senior vice president of hockey operations, at 8 a.m. Pacific time Tuesday. The Bruins’ willingness to disclose the nature and seriousness of Horton’s injury is probably their way of lobbying for a long suspension for Rome, who got a five-minute major penalty for interference and a game misconduct.

[Updated at 9:53 a.m.: Rome was handed a four-game suspension following the hearing Tuesday morning.]

I hate to see hits like that...aiming for the head.

@panzade,

after watching it one last time, it looks as though his head hitting the ice prolly made it worse.

i think the league should crack down on these types of hits... the ruling was fair...

@panzade,

... so just how does a team go from scoring 12 goals in two games to getting shutout the next game?

@Region Philbis,
Maybe they're both just better on home ice. I don't have much confidence in Vancouver, to tell you the truth. They can play well, and sometimes do, but ...

I like Boston's coach... saw him answering questions last night.

@Mame,

let's see...
during the regular season, the canucks were equally good @ home and on the road (27-9-5, 27-10-4),
whereas da broonz were slightly better on the road (22-13-6, 24-12-5)...

in the playoffs, the canucks have 8 home wins and 2 road wins.
broonz have 7 home wins and 3 road wins...

ergo, ipso-facto...
da broonz will win game 7 in vancouver and take home da cup... Razz . Mr. Green

Canucks pitch broadcast rights to Cup parade,
NHL says no

After Vancouver won Game 5 by a 1-0 score, the Canucks attempted to sell the
broadcast rights to their yet-to-be-determined Stanley Cup parade, according to a
league source.

Naturally, that Vancouver will host a Cup parade has yet to be determined. The
Canucks must win one of the next two games to win the Cup.

The NHL shot down the Canucks' plans because parade broadcast rights are not
subject to sale.

I'll bet this gets posted in the Bruins' locker room!
