@BumbleBeeBoogie,
Quote:
My knee gave out last week just as Butrflynet's spine disc gave out, too. She's finally able to walk a little with a walker. She's probably going to need medical attention. I had to drive her to her doctor appointment today to removed stitches from a recent treatment because she could not drive. We are two pitiful sad sacks.

Oh my, what a difficult situation, BBB.
I'm hoping that you'll be able to get the assistance you are obviously going to need.
(I wish I was around the corner from you both & could help out. I'd be happy to.)
In the meantime, good for Sal. Now that's what I'd call a good friend!
I just hope there are a few more Sals around to help with other things.

Aaaargh! Sorry to hear this. Wish there was something I could do to help.

Glad your flowers and garden are being looked after and tended to.

I drove 24 miles and to and from taking Butrflynet to her doctor appointment yesterday without any problems. Whoopee!

Sal came over at 9 am this morning to plant four more rose bushes in the back yard and three Hydrangea in the front yard. I think that is the last of the new garden additions.

My house is on a corner so I have a large front yard and a long front side yard in addition to the back yard to add flowers, etc. Butrflynet still has a lot of room in the back yard for her vegetable garden. Last year, friend Michael built two large raised garden boxes for Butrflynet in the rear side yard and one at the other end of the yard, so she has lots of room for planting a variety of vegetables. She loves gardening and is good at it.

Funny thing happened last year when Butrflynet's tomatoes were plentiful. I picked two over ripe tomatoes down low on the vine and gave Dolly and Madison doggies each one. They liked them. It was a big mistake because the dogs discovered they likes tomatoes. Every day they would pick some from as high as they could reach and feasted on their favorite vegetable.

There are storm clouds in the sky and we are hoping for some rare rain. We expecting strong winds again, which we all hate them this time of year. Looking forward for the monsoon season to arrive to end ABQ's long drought.

I just sent Mags some curative chicken soup and realized I should have sent you two some too.

How are you doing? I'm glad to see Butrflynet posting again, whew.

@ossobuco,
Am still eating pain pills like candy. The good news is that I no longer lose bladder control from the pain when I try to stand so things are improving.

Once I'm up, I can move around for about an hour before I can't stand the pain any longer and need to lay down. The only relief seems to be laying flat on my back. There is a bulge in the vertebrae of my lower back area that has me thinking something in the spine got jerked out of alignment while I was wheeling BBB down the sloping ramp of the hospital lobby when I had to take her to emergency last week for her chest pains. It was a steep slope and I had to put my back into it to keep the wheel chair from careening out of control.

I would have been okay if I'd taken it easy afterwards but did not do so. Had to go to a doctor's appointment of my own for some urgent treatment and then to Walgreens to get a prescription filled. It was the round trip walk all the way to the back of Walgreens that finally did me in. Should have used the drive-thru.

We're managing. I've been a lot more mobile the last two days and was able to make a pot of spaghetti and another big bowl of BBB's favorite salad to last us a few days. Also got a load of laundry done for each of us. It just takes me a long time to do things between breaks. Luckily, I had done the grocery shopping the week before so we're well stocked - it is just that most of it is for cooking from scratch rather than just heating up in the microwave so it takes more time.

The way things are improving, if I behave myself I should be able to drive myself back to the doctor next week for my follow up appointments.

BBB has tried to get an appointment with her ortho surgeon but he doesn't have anything available until the end of May. If her leg gets any worse, I may have to take her back to the ER so she can get some immediate treatment.

It would help a great deal if she'd give in and make use of her mobility scooter rather than so stubbornly trying to push through as if she were still the agile able-bodied person she used to be. But, that's another show...

@Butrflynet,
Yikes. Glad things are improving a bit, even though that sounds really rough.

(BBB... use your mobility scooter!!)

@Butrflynet,
I believe you on the wheel chair down the ramp thing. My cousin's son seriously got his spine by moving a hospital gurney (with patient in it) when it went off in a direction he wanted to stop it and he torqued himself to do it. Muy peligroso, however you spell that.

Keep on the mend. . .

I've done this myself, though not as bad as you are dealing with. I do remember watering my garden that desperately needed it while I stood at a near perfect right angle. Almost but not quite funny, in my case.

On lack of bladder control while trying to stand, totally frustrating - did you swear?
