@MorganBieber,
Fuji's are my reigning favorites. Perfect taste (ratio of sweet to tart) and texture. Though it's been too long since I last bought apples.

@MorganBieber,
New Mexico. They are grown wherever good apples are grown.

I like almost any apple except Granny Smiths. I love a good macintosh, and tend to like red delicious better than golden delicious.

I like to change it up, so on any given day I probably prefer whatever I have not had for the longest time. Exceptions are red and golden delicious...that is all I had as a kid, I never need to eat another of either.

@aidan,
How strange. I almost added both to my prefered list. Granny Smith tends to be even more crunchy than I like, but good flavor.

@roger,
They're (granny smiths) good for pies, specifically because they're tart and crisp - they don't turn into mush when cooked like some other apples do.

It's hard for me to say what apple I prefer because any apple that's ripe - is an apple I like.

Same with canteloupe, peaches, plums, oranges - I think when fruit is good - it's nature's perfect food.

@MorganBieber,
I like DCortland, they are more of a "heritage" varietal with strong appley flavor and a nice tarness that is not favored in todays apples. They make good everything (pies, jelly,sauce cider).
Granny SMiths are a second to Cortlands in their flavor.
I hate the sappy sweet " red delicious " apple. Its mostly for show

@farmerman,
It depends. I like granny smiths sometimes, fugi, and prefer pink ladies for the apple torte I make. Delicious of either color are the last apples I'd buy. Prefer apples in season in general. Haven't ever tried winesap, never saw them in any of my markets.

I like gala's and fuji's. I have a friend who grows fuji's. The put them in bags while on the tree for a couple of weeks, and just before they are picked, the bags are taken off and a clear sticker of company logos or team insignias are put on them. When the apples turn pink, the sticker is removed and viola, the design is still white. Everyone from hockey teams, the Maple Leafs et al to Martha Stewart have purchased these apples.

It's a very, very slow death with pickled skin, blisters, hair loss and mental decline. Were Adam and Eve ever in Japan?

@Miller,
hmm, so humans have been slowly dying of radiation poisoning since eve ate the apple, the mental decline part seems to fit the bill as the years go by
