In this month's Audubon Magazine, there is a short article called, "Dial B for Birdcalls". Unfortunately, it was not posted to their website. The long and short of it is that starlings, and grey catbirds, have learned to mimic cell phone rings. So next time your cell phone rings, and seems to come from the outside, grab your binoculars!
<bbrrrrringggg>Hello? Hey, Robin! Good to hear from ya. Still working on that nest egg? Say, why don't you and I grab a couple of chicks and swallow a few grasshoppers tonight? Cheap! Cheap! Don't worry, we'll wing it- I've got an eagle eye for picking out a cute little bird-of-paradise if you know what I mean. Hey, I gotta fly--the early bird catches the worm, you know.
It does kind of make you realize how intrusive the cell phone has become, doesn't it?
My cell is on Fur Elise so, I dont think itd be too awefully bad...some Ive heard however might be a bit surprising
It is sad but, interesting as well...how are these birds hearing all these cell phones with enough to get to that point?
Equus, you are a truly unbelievable poster . . . how do you keep up the one liners? Have you heard the song Cruisin' in the Gulf Stream? It's right up your alley . . .
Q1, i hope you don't have your phone the next time i see you--i generally get a homicidal glint in my eyes when forced to hear Fur Elise yet again . . . AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA . . .

There was an article about that in the May edition of 'Clio' as well as in several other publicans:
link 'Clio'
(Pssssst, Walter, a publican is someone who runs a public house, i.e., a barkeep.)
sorry to hear that guy...will keep it low just for you
Awww, yer a sweetie, i don't care what fishin' says . . .
I should know that, Setanta!
But since no-one would understand your response, wehn I edit that, I leave it for the records.
Well QUINN -- You have your cell phone
dedicated to good taste, classical music. I
wish more would follow your example.
