PolitiScoop Story
Waukesha Wisconsin -- So here we go yet again folks. Seems like something is awry in Waukesha with the recount of the votes -- it seems that there was some kind of screw up with numbers and security tape on the bags of ballots that were collected. Apparently numbers on two ballot bags from the Town of Brookfield did not match and a security tag did not match what was on an election inspectors list.
The three numbers do not indicate how many votes are in a bag but they are supposed to match up. It seems the error was due to the inspectors using a 2 instead of a 3. The numbers on the sealing tag and the bag did not match. How can an inspector make such a critical mistake? As one person stated "Great way to start off."
A retired judge, Robert Mawdsley, is overseeing the recount. Incompetent County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus did not want to do it because of everything that has gone down in Waukesha with her errors in more than just this year. Remember, she had a 14,000 vote mix up and the Government Accountability Board is supposed to have a finding on that investigation within 60 days. Judge Mawdsley ordered that only one bag be opened and the second was to remain sealed. He also wanted an explanation from Brookfield Town Clerk Jane Carlson as to what was going on. Her response to this question was "Honestly, I don’t know." Well that is not an answer we the people are looking for, is it?
Observers from both the Prosser and Kloppenburg campaigns were there -- after a short talk it was decided to open the second bag of ballots and continue on. Why not find out the reason they were not marked correctly? Something is not adding up again here folks. Do they think we have a blind eye to all of this? These bags of ballots did not just screw themselves up - there has to be a reason why this happened.
Keeping Score?
There is an ominous pattern of human errors coming out of Waukesha , Wisconsin as of late and I have to tell you things are beginning to stink. You can judge for yourself as I leave you today’s scorecard.
Two days before the election the GAB has already given Prosser a new Term (Still no reason given as of 4/27/11 from the GAB)
Election Night Kloppenburg declared preliminary winner by the AP
Almost two days later Waukesha found more than 7,000 votes for Prosser to give him the victory but they were first reported to bloggers and radio before the GAB.
Open Records Request reveals emails sent to county clerks across the state stating that the Waukesha County Clerk was the only Clerk to use the specially written software by the GAB.
Today two bags of sealed votes have mismatching numbers.

"Dear Lord, These have been tough times .... You have taken my favorite actor Patrick Swayze, my favorite actress Elizabeth Taylor, my favorite musician Michael Jackson, my favorite salesman Billy Mays, and my favorite athlete Steve McNair. I just wanted you to know that my favorite governor is Scott Walker.

Amen!!"

Eric --

Republicans are at it again, subverting the will of the American people, first by disenfranchising voters across the country and now by trying to hijack the Wisconsin recall elections by running hard-core GOP partisans in the Democratic recall primaries.

They’re pulling this stunt for no other purpose than to buy Republican incumbents an extra month in office, because if they can force the Real Democratic candidates into a primary, they can delay the election.

Even conservative Wisconsin bloggers are calling this “not only wrong, but stupid,” and a “sophomoric dirty trick” that reeks of desperation.

Republicans claim they’ll put at least 6 fakers on the ballot –

All of the GOP’s fake “Democrats” have long histories as Republican partisans, and they’re not even bothering to hide it. Many donated to right-wing Republican candidates like Scott Walker. Most have even endorsed the Republican state senators they’re supposedly running “against.”

Republicans are doing this for one reason, and one reason alone: to delay the will of the people of Wisconsin.

They know that when the people actually get a chance to vote, these Republican senators will lose.

So they cooked up this stunt because they want an extra month to serve as Scott Walker’s lap dogs.

Hijacking our elections is outrageous!

Every step of the way, Republicans have tried to duck and hide from the voters.

It started with the union-busting bills they passed all over the country with practically no debate. Then they used illegal parliamentary maneuvers to pass their Wisconsin agenda in the dead of night. Then came their atrocious voter-suppression bills aimed at disenfranchising millions of eligible voters across the country.

Now Republicans are trying to cling to power by any means necessary. They can try all they want , but they can’t hide from the voters forever.

Sincerely,

Michael Sargeant
Executive Director
The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee
