what is the meaning of "renegade division"?

Hey, guys. I am reading a book about Steve Jobs. It said He was a head of a "renegade division". what does it mean by saying "renegade division".

'renegade' means a person or group that is outside the mainstream or that does things differently than the mainstream. Apple computers have always had a bit of the renegade to both them and their computers, and some people who used them saw themselves as renegades against the Microsoft biggies.
