Your story is wonderful - who's been spying in my kitchen?

I could use some ice cream - or some other cheering up type food - I'm listening to the bloody cricket! Sad I could use some of George's evaporating alcohol, too - but I am at work!

Welcome to A2K!

Re less fattening, I've long read that (um, real) gelato has less fat than regular ice cream. I'm no ice cream chemist - I just remember it as delicious with very good flavors. Not here in Albuquerque. Diane and I were disgusted at the one gelato place we know here.

I liked the paletas from la michoacana way better.

@margo,
Thank you for your reply Margo, I think the ice-cream saga is going to take some beating, but for someone as disorgamised as me, maybe not, watch this space. Sorry about the cricket but why? assume it's not your choice or maybe it is aned it's just not going your way? True cheering up food would be some fab ice-cream plus some of George's evaporating alcohol, now that would make you smile.

@ossobuco,
Um pardon? paletas? michoacana?? is that a kind of food and a place?

Sitting in the rain,sleet and snow of Nottingham here, imagine Albeq' to be sunny & warm, perfect for IC of any variety.

@sms,
Yes.. they are ice cream bars, particularly wonderful ones made from excellent ingredients. Michoacan is an area in Mexico, and the family that started the store(s) in Albuquerque was from there.

Right now, it's 37 degrees F here in Abq, with an expected 41 later in the day. Not as cold as for the previous several days.

@ossobuco,
OOOooh positively balmy. Our weather on the other hand is positively Barmy! we've had the coldest temps for 25 years over the last 3 weeks, today has warmed up to O from a recent low of minus 11, with the 'thaw' we can now look forward to more snow. And in this, I choose to make ice-cream?

@ossobuco,
What a twit I am, in centigrade you aren't much warmer than we are, totally spoiled my idea of you lounging by the pool!

I'm Australian! We're in national mourning!

While it's nice and warm here, the only barmy is the bloody Barmy Army - singing along at opur expense.

Not a cricket-loving Pom then?

@margo,
No Margo not a cricket loving pom, it has it's devotees but it's one of the most boring games ever invented! Is it no consolation that it's taken them 25 years to actually retain the urn, so you had a bloody good run at beating them?

@sms,
We make up for the cold in August, when I want to move into a refrigerated house, or maybe just the refrigerator, because of the intense sun. Spoiled brat that I am, until recently I've mostly lived on the Pacific coast of California.
