@spendius,
There are some principles of life that must supercede past actions and crimes. Bombing whole cities to cower them is a crime against humanity whether it happened during WWI, WWII, or any other wars.

Some people never learn the value of each life.

@cicerone imposter,
I don't see how you can call it a crime when those who did it are decorated heroes.

@BillRM,
You have no sense of humanity, and you're full of it.

You're probably also a bigot with a small brain.

You know it is sad to think of all the brave men who did not get to live out their lives cowering the poor Germans in their cities so you could live and have the freedom to post such nonsense.

@BillRM,
Your observation of war as a war-monger tells me more about you than I need to know. What you now determine as "have the freedoms" is not won by killing more humans. It shows you have never understood wars or the impact of wars, and how most freedoms are won by the people of the country, and not from without.

Please email the city fathers of Carthage with that little bit of wisdom of yours.

Oh footnote in order to get peace they even gave up all their evil weapons to the Romans, just before the Romans destroy them in total.

@BillRM,
You're still several centuries behind the times. This is the 21st century - believe it or not!

@cicerone imposter,
ci, it makes no difference to him - he believes that rape is not a crime - especially if you don't get caught. Crimes against humanity don't mean nottin!

@BillW,
Haven't bothered to look into that thread, because that subject is of no interest. However, I did see BRM's frequent posts to that thread; that was enough reason to stay away. He never makes any quality contribution to any thread on a2k.

I can even banter with spendi, because I find him entertaining, non-threatening, and probably a pretty decent guy underneath all that pub blather.

And you are of the opinion that human nature had change or that the results of lying down in front of the Nazis 75 years ago would had been better for us then when the Carthaginians did so with the Romans 2200 years ago?

Hang on chaps. The Roman reduced Catharge level with the earth and not content with that they sowed salt in the foundations so there would be no more trouble. We rebuilt Germany.

@hingehead,
spendi used that term. "hang on chaps" is a British term; probably also used in Australia.

JTT--You might or might not be interested but there is a note on page 31 of Philippa Pullar's very nice biography of Frank Harris which provides a telling variation on your tune.

It's not my tune, Spendi, it's the facts. The USA took over from the Brits as the top predator nation on the planet.
