Nothing useful to add to what's been said, but sympathy winging...

The marathoners pooh-poohed me.

They pretty nearly damn well sneered.

Blisters, they implied, are as nothing to real exercisers.

Just in case this is part of the problem I'll mention how I did myself in on the first part of my last italy trip with the usual zillion miles of walking on concrete or cobbles per day. As I usually do, I brought one pair of shoes, my good trusty danskos, but as they were fairly well broken in, thus a little looser than usual, I added a foam insert. The devil made me do it. It was more comfortable .... if I just stood stock still. But, as it was cool weather I wore socks and the socks went rubbing familiarly with the foam insert and my feet were gonners for blisters. And I rarely get blisters, especially with danskos.

I bought a pair of comfortable walking shoes in Florence, shipped the danskos home , no easy task at the time, and the blisters went away in a day or two.
After I returned home and got my danskos back, I tore out the foam thing, put the danskos on, and... no problemo. Of course I should have thought of that back in Florence, but there's no accounting for my denseness on this. Expect maybe the pain fuddled my comprehension that the foam with the socks could be the problem.

No additional suggestions for your blisters but, if you'll excuse the digression for a moment, how are your ribs?

They're getting better.

I can sometimes sleep on my left side now...if I am careful!!

I'm st8ill getting referred pain to my left breast, which is disconcerting.

Crocs are dead ugly but I hiked all through Thailand in a bright orange pair, not a blister to be seen. However, they are a dangerous choice when they or your feet get wet.
My best friend constantly gets blisters, doesn't matter what type of shoe. I think some people are more susceptible.

I need really good walking shoes otherwise my back and knees are damaged.

If your objective is to do something for them, I think you're doing just fine. They seem very happy on your feet.

If, on the other hand, your objective is to do something against them, I can think of two things you might try.

Number one, for treatment, is Compeed blister patches. They worked wonders for my feet back when I was young, in shape, and foolish enough to hike up mountains in heavy, inflexible boots.

Number two, for prevention, is fancy-shmancy running socks. (The ones I bought are called Nike Dri-Fit Elite No-Show Running socks.) At $12 a pair, they're not exactly cheap. But before I bought them, I used to get blisters on every run longer than ten kilometers (6 miles). After I bought them, nothing. They have definitely proven worth their price for me. But of course, your experience may vary.

You need to figure out WHY you are getting all these blisters.

I had knee and hip problems and my little toe rubbed the next one until there was a blister inbetween the two toes.

I went to one of these shoe fitting stores and went on their machine and the clerk showed me how my arch was too long and I was stepping down on one side of my foot too hard when I walked.

Inserts bought ($90 - ouch) and a pair of really lightweight shoes and that stopped all the craziness immediately.

Not well. Every time I try it, a grin emerges on my mouth and sabotages the hairiness. I'll need to wear a burka for greater effectiveness.

@PUNKEY,
I already have orthotics and my shoes are SUPPOSED to fit. I mean...they were properly fitted and all.

@littlek,
I'll try two socks and Thomas' socks.

Sadly, I can almost never find an actual PAIR of socks in my drawers.

People have pairs of socks?

I am staggered.

all my socks are dark blue. I just make the best shade match i can by selecting 3 socks. no one cares.

Actually, I didn't even see that you had posted, until just now, since I have you on Ignore because of how often you behave as you just did.

@dlowan,
I have mostly blacks and greys; with the black ones, I have to drag them out into daylight or a window with bright daylight to match 'em up.

@dlowan,
Of course you ignore people. All the truly great upper class socialites do that. It shant be a problem though, I wont attempt to help you again. Try pissing on your blisters. That works too.

@Ionus,
Yep, dlowan's an upper class socialite alright. When I'm asked to describe her in 10 words or less, I ALWAYS open with the upper class socialite part. Because she so is. I think she's an heiress too isn't she? I do know that she and Paris are like totally best buds. Well they were, until the incident. I've said too much haven't I?
