Our learning group needs a slogan or motto of our own. I've created one, but I am not very sure whether it is properly written on the grounds of the golden standard of English. So your comment is requested.
Thank you in advance.
The slogan:
Refresh Your Ken, Refresh Your Brain.
@Ceili,
Ken = the area of knowledge
@oristarA,
I don't think I've ever heard ken used that way before. I'll wager most english speakers haven't either.
Maybe you could use "skills" instead of "ken" to make the motto more understandable to english speakers.
But then you might want to say "Freshen your skills, refresh your brain".
@boomerang,
Thanks.
But it sounds not so perfect in rhythm.
@oristarA,
your use of ken is correct
how about:
Refresh Your Ken, Bro.
@laughoutlood,
Thank you.
Our group includes many a female member.
"ken" is definitely NOT a commonly-used English word (except, for some reason, by 1930s science-fiction writers, which is pretty much the only context I've seen it in), and except for Ken, who is the doll boyfriend of the Barbie doll. Which I don't think is the effect you are striving for. If your learning group learns it and actually uses it in a conversation, I think most English-speakers are going to look at them with a good deal of puzzlement--"What does THAT mean?"
Maybe something like "Learn more, be more".
@MontereyJack,
The word ken, meaning understanding or perception, is now rarely used outside Scotland.
@oristarA,
How about REFRESH YOUR KNOWLEDGE, REPLENISH YOUR BRAIN
I prefer mind to brain.
Fresh minds need fresh knowledge.
Fresh perception = refreshed mind

Like that one, short, direct, easy on the ears.
@oristarA,
How about making it more simple?
Wise Up!
BBB
"Wise up" is good, BBB, you might want to copyright that.
@MontereyJack,
I have a slight memory of ken meaning knowledge, but using it in a slogan strikes me as a big stretch.
Thank you guys.
The slogan "Learn more, be more" is excellent, but it has long been a motto used by some colleges.
It is better to create one.
Dadpad's "Fresh minds need fresh knowledge" and BumbleBeeBoogie's "Wise Up!" are both witty that I love.
Special thanks to PaddyH.
