I've never contemplated that Maslow's pyramid needed revising, because in a general way it made sense. But maybe it would help if the Self Actualization level was explained in more detail. A revision would not concern me much, but I guess it's a big deal to some people. A VERY big deal it seems.

For me I've come to accept Maslow's motivational pyramid as logical and reasonable. There are recent examples of people moving up and down the pyramid. I remember watching the watching scenes from the war in the Balkan states and seeing men and women in tattered elegant cloths fleeing for their lives. I remembered at the time thinking of Maslow's pyramid and imagined their lives being shattered; one night attending the opera, and the next day fighting for a scrap of bread.

However I never had a good handle about where sex and procreation fell in the chart. The explanation in school had always been a bit vague for me.

Do you think that Maslow's pyramid needs revising, or not?
