Yes - better than most Americans, he's captured the feel and humour of Australia. Probably due to the time he lived in Blighty. Parts of it are a bit "cringe making", but, on the whole, a good read, and a good preparation for tourists.

Interesting in that England has a labour government, and Oz has a conservative (like Tory) govt., but - what's the difference?

Actually, I think the melodies themselves are nice. A good anthem can cheer me up and everything. It's just that the texts are invariably disagreeable and outdated.

Like the Norwegian anthem "Yes, we love this country". Excuse me? When did I sign that? I love my country like I love my 15" LCD, but I don't make songs for it.
