I was all right for a while
I could smile for a while
I thought that I was over you
But it's true, so true
I love you even more
Than I did before
But darling what can I do
For you don't love me
And I'll always be
Crying over you
Crying over you
Yes, now you're gone
And from this moment on
I'll be crying
Crying, crying, crying
Yeah crying
Crying, over you
---Roy Orbison

When your day is long and the night
The night is yours alone
When you're sure you've had enough of this life
Well hang on
Don't let yourself go, 'cause everybody cries
and everybody hurts, sometimes ...
Sometimes everything is wrong,
Now it's time to sing along
When your day is night alone (hold on, hold on)
If you feel like letting go (hold on)
If you think you've had too much of this life
Well hang on
'Cause everybody hurts
Take comfort in your friends
Everybody hurts
Don't throw your hands, oh no
Don't throw your hands
If you feel like you're alone
no, no, no, you're not alone
If you're on your own in this life
The days and nights are long
When you think you've had too much
of this life, to hang on
Well everybody hurts,
sometimes, everybody cries,
And everybody hurts ...
sometimes
But everybody hurts sometimes
So hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on,
hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on
Everybody hurts
You're not alone

Robert Johnson --- The Complete Collection, I Believe I'll Dust My Broom

Recorded on 23 November 12/9/36 in San Antonio, Texas. "Dust my broom" later became the signature tune of Elmore James, of course.

I'm gon' get up in the mornin', I believe I'll dust my broom (2x)
Girlfriend, the black man you been lovin', girlfriend, can get my room

I'm gon' write a letter, telephone every town I know (2x)
If I can't find her in West Helena, she must be in East Monroe, I know

I don't want no woman, wants every downtown man she meet (2x)
She's a no good doney, they shouldn't 'low her on the street

I believe, I believe I'll go back home (2x)
You can mistreat me here, babe, but you can't when I go home

And I'm gettin' up in the morning, I believe I'll dust my broom (2x)
Girlfriend, the black man that you been lovin', girlfriend, can get my room

I'm gon' call up Chiney, she is my good girl over there (2x)
If I can't find her on Philippine's Island, she must be in Ethiopia somewhere

Tom Petty Greatest Hits

Mary Jane's Last Dance by Tom Petty

She grew up in a Indiana town,
Had a good lookin' mama who never was around
But she grew up tall and she grew up right,
With them Indiana boys on an Indiana night
Then she moved down here at the age of eighteen,
She blew the boys away; was more than they'd seen
I was introduced and we both started groovin',
She said, "I dig you, baby, but I got to keep movin'"
...on, keep movin' on
(Chorus)
Last dance with Mary Jane
One more time to kill the pain
I feel summer creepin' in and I'm
Tired of this town again
Well I don't know but I've been told,
You never slow down, you never grow old
I'm tired of screwin' up, tired of goin' down,
Tired of myself, tired of this town,
Oh my, my, oh hell yes,
Honey put on that party dress
Buy me a drink, sing me a song,
Take me as I come 'cause I can't stay long
(Chorus)
There's pidgeons down in Market Square,
She's standing in her underwear
Lookin' down from a hotel room,
Nightfall will be coming soon
Oh my, my, oh hell yes,
You've got to put on that party dress
It was too cold to cry, when I woke up alone
I hit the last number, I walked to the road
(Chorus)

Lovers In a Dangerous Time
Bruce Cockburn
from the album Stealing Fire © 1984

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

don't the hours grow shorter as the days go by
you never get to stop and open your eyes
one day you're waiting for the sky to fall
the next you're dazzled by the beauty of it all
when you're lovers in a dangerous time
lovers in a dangerous time

these fragile bodies of touch and taste
this vibrant skin, this hair like lace
spirits open to the thrust of grace
never a breath you can afford to waste

when you're lovers in a dangerous time
sometimes you're made to feel as if you're love's a crime
but nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight
got to kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight

when you're lovers in a dangerous time
lovers in a dangerous time
and we're lovers in a dangerous time
lovers in a dangerous time

Me and my uptight, button down collar snotball next door neighbor, who calls the sheriff on my kids at high noon if they're being to loud for him around our own pool, are about to be treated to Jimi Hendrix doing the Star Spangled Banner through a couple of double 15 and horn cabinets being driven by a 600 watt stereo amp on about 8, just to start the daily festivities.

I hope he turns red white and blue in the face. Razz Laughing Cool  Drunk Mr. Green
