Another East Village dude you should check out, if you've never heard of him, is Fred Neil. I know me n' Panzade had an exchange about him on this thread many pages ago.

Best male voice I've ever heard. Trumps even Johnny Cash, vocally, I think.

East village!? I always get mad when I see I have more faverite bands in N.Y. then in L.A.....friggin N.Y.

in the past two weeks I have seen.

Cracker

Camper van Bethoveen (seemed like they didn't really give a $hit)

Flipper (pretty good)

Mudhoney (boring)

Melvins (sucked and boring)

And Lucinda Williams (recording a live album at the El Rey theatre in L.A.)

I saw Wilco play in Millenium Park (Chicago) last week. Great venue (lake, skyline), great weather, great show. I'm partial though to their older stuff, which rocks considerably more than anything they've put out in the past five years.

I've seen Wilco live several times, but not in the last 5 years or so. I gotta agree that since Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, they have not had anything great.

Slappy, I like Spoon. (that may or may not make you want to listen to them, I realise.
