Actually, I got the idea (song) from Try on the riddle thread.
YES, I do remember Brand New Key Very Happy

Off hand I don't remember Yankee Man but if I heard it I might.
I will look around and see if I can find it. If I do I will post it here.

Thanks- These are the lyrics that I can remember:

I lived with the decent folk
In the hills of old Vermont
Where what you do all day,
depends on what you want
And I took up with a full grown man
Though I was just a kid
And I smile like the sun
To think of the loving that we did...

(I don't remember the next verse but then...
Chorus: Yankee man so good to me
Yankee man just a memory
Yankee man so good to me
Your memory is enough for me

An autumn walk on a country road
With a million flaming trees
I was feeling uneasy
There was winter in the breeze
And he said, Oh Darlin' look over there
The birds are southward bound
Oh darlin' I'm so afraid to lose the
love we 've found

Repeat chorus

I remember every word and the tune and I did have it on vynil, but lost the album in one of my moves and haven't been able to find that song or the album anywhere. I don't remember the name of the album, but I remember the cover was black and it had a red and yellow kind of patchwork diamond in the middle and pattern around the outside.

Anyway- if you ever found it, I'd be sooo grateful. I can sing it for myself, but it's not quite the same thing....

PS- The song was written by Jesse Winchester, and I think he does a version (Yankee Woman or something) but I love the way Melanie did it.

I was in the control room with Tom Dowd at Criteria Studios in Miami, the night they cut this song. They played it live and laid it down in two takes! Dickie and Warren played those solos live. The Allman Bros. have a truly unique signature sound, and man can they swing

This is one of the comments on this video (on youtube). I can't believe they got this done in two takes- I myself find this amazing- but having seen them live many times, am not surprised- they are one of the best live bands alive and I think Greg Allman has one of the best blues voices (for a white guy) I've ever heard.

edited twice- once to add comment, and once to say that I edited.

Eric Clapton- Have you ever loved a woman

*I got this great lesser known album by him this week-end, called Reptile. He does some amazing covers on it - Stevie Wonder's, "I aint gonna stand for it" among others. Couldn't find any of those songs on youtube, but this version of this song I think highlights why he's considered a master, at what he does.

Just make sure it doesn't sting you! Where are you living, TTH?

Yes, this is a good song- it's off Layla- which is, in my opinion, the absolute pinnacle of Eric Clapton's genius. Listen to it sometime- in its entirety- there's not a bad song on the album.

In his later stuff he got kind of easy listening, middle of the road- and in my mind- boring. I hated that acoustic version he did of Tears in Heaven and gave him up for a while. But I did have to admit his innate talent and he eventually came back to it as evidenced by this version of this song- though it came later- it showcases his incredible guitar playing skills. There's no denying he's a genius on the frets.

I am living at home (I had the window open)
I just don't like the sound a wasp makes is all. I have never been stung and I let bees, yellow jackets and wasps land on me. Usually they are just curious so it doesn't bother me.

Right now I am listening to my typing on the keyboard because my spouse is sleeping.
