What a powerful song. The New Yorker magazine(of all places) has a great article in the current edition about the life of McCartney.
Apparently he wrote this song when the Beatles were breaking up and he was sliding into a deep depression. Most of his life had been spent writing songs with John Lennon and he couldn't bear the thought of going on his own. Then he met Linda Eastman and her strength and support literally saved him. Somehow the song mirrors his relief

Yep! We discovered him on a trip to Quebec City. My husband who speaks no French bravely went to an outdoor concert not knowing anything about him. Luckily he understands the language of music.
You can't find his CDs here. I had to order through amazon.ca.
Sadly, I have next to no French either, but I get some francophone friends to translate.
I'm listening to some "air checks" of Bob Crosby and his Bobcats, recorded from an NBC Radio broadcast originating at the Congress Hotel, Chicago, sometime in the 1930s. It's on "The Jazz Decades" on NPR. My local link is WBH-FM, 89.7. (WGBH.org)
