Panzade ------ yep, dead right. Dixon was with Chess records in the 1960s, as well as writing a lot of stuff he was also a bass player. A lot of his matrerial was recorded by Howlin Wolf and then by a lot of British blues players such as Eric Clapton. There is an Howlin Wolf album recorded in London in the 1960s. I don't have a copy but I've got Howlin Wolf's album Genuine Article

I wish I was a neutron bomb, for once I could go off.
I wish I was a sacrifice but somehow still lived on.
I wish I was a sentimental ornamnet you hung on
The christmas tree, I wish I was the star that went on top,
I wish I was the evidence
I wish I was the grounds for fifty million hands up raised and opened toward the sky.

I wish I was a sailor with someone who waited for me.
I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.
I wish I was a messenger, and all the news is good.
I wish I was the full moon shining off your camaro's hood.

I wish I was an alien, at home behind the sun,
I wish I was the souvenir you kept your house key on.
I wish I was the pedal break that you depended on.
I wish I was the verb to trust, and never let you down.

I wish I was the radio song, the one that you turned up,
I wish, I wish, I wish, I wish,
I guess it never stops.

listening to Jann Arden's Living Under June c.d. again

Wash the angels from your hair won't need them anymore
Hide your heart under the bed and lock your secret drawer
Love is the demon and you're the one he's coming for
Oh my Lord. Oh my Lord

Yeah Dave is great!! I never was a big Nirvana fan...more partial to STP, but "My Hero" and "Best Of You" are both awesome songs. I had forgot about this song until I bought "Varsity Blues" on dvd a few weeks ago.

It's funny how you can forget about a really good song, then hear it somewhere, then you can't get enough of it.

Yeah, sometimes you just don't realize how great it is when you're young and twenty years later it hits you.Happens to me with Bacharach - David. I heard "Walk On By" by Dionne Warwick today and was just knocked over.

Listening to "Stan Getz Plays". Great sax work from the 50's. Getz tears through these standards like a man posessed.Currently : "I Hadn't Anyone Til You" ...one of my favorite tunes by the wonderful English orchestra leader Ray Noble.
Getz gets great backing from Jimmy Rainey on guitar and Duke Jordan on piano...think I'll search for my Jordan tunes next...
