I Still Call Australia Home
(P.Allen)
I've been to cities that never close down
from New York, to Rio and old London town,
but no matter how far or how wide I roam
I still call Australia home.
All the sons and daughters spinning 'round the world,
Away from their fam'ly and friends,
But as the world gets older and colder,
It's good to know where your journey ends.
I'm always trav'lin, I love being free,
And so I keep leaving the sun and the sea,
But still my heart lies waiting over the foam
I still call Australia home.
But someday we'll all be together once more
When all of the ships come back to the shore,
I realize something I've always known
I still call Australia home.

Paul is one of those Oz constants. He writes a mean song, writes about Oz &
sings like an Oz person.

This was a revolution & a revelation, after years Oz of "singer/song writers" sounding like west coast yanks, singing about their Mississippi home, etc ....
Paul's sung about addiction to drugs, cricket heroes, Oz cities, falling in love & losing love (over & over!

), being overwhelmed by Cezanne's paintings, trying to be a better man, falling on his face, infidelity, alcohol induced mistakes, compromising himself, dragging himself up by the shoe strings, hope, despair, aborigines & justice, .... He's like an old, old friend that you've shared your journey with. I love him!
Ah, Peter Allen! (I still Call Oz home). He died far too young!
When my baby..
When my baby smiles at me
I go to Rio,
De Janiero ...
Great for a bit of bump & grind!
