I have some serious credit score issues and would like to find a company that can help me get rid of some of them ...without all the spam.

@savvy-spending43,
Hi savvy and welcome to A2K!

Most of these companies are not in your best interest. There really is nothing that they can do that you cannot do yourself, and likely do better. For instance, let's say that the report from all 3 bureaus show a delinquent account that is actually portrayed as more than 1 account due to differing account numbers, you can supply the proof of what the true account number is and demand that the others be dropped.

It can be a bit of work, but you can do this. Just make sure that you do it properly.

Also a bit of warning - In the process of dropping bogus open accounts on your credit reports, you score may actually drop at first. This is due to the number of open accounts being lowered, even if that account is a delinquent one. It just depends on what you have removed. Some things are more weighty. If you have a lot of things removed due to the time limits placed on how long something can stay on your report, your score will go up. Of course, you would need to get rescored through each bureau (there is a fee) if you want your score to go up quickly.

Have a look at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre13.shtm for some direction.

Good luck!
