The building, in campus grounds crowded with different types of sculpture, had been closed five years ago pending reconstruction work.
My God--did they think it was installation art? Or a life-size, sort of boney, mobile? Or that he was just hanging around? UGH!!
I coudn't help but think of the goofy summer art teacher in "Ghost World!"
This sounds apochryphal, but then it isn't, but on the other hand, it is...

Something similar happened in Germany, last winter, where a woman made an interview video about what it might be like to commit suicide, and then ended up dead on the sidewalk in front of a funky gallery, and everyone walked around her thinking she was "performance art".
