we visited ronda sometime during the 1970's. beautiful spanish town. i'll ask ehbeth to post one of my photographs (haven't learned yet how to do it myself). btw. isn't the only circular spanish bullrink in ronda - i seem to recall that's what we were told. we were also invited to visit the home of a local family - very beautiful ! the drive from malaga and back made our hair stand up a bit, no guardrails and plenty of cars that had missed one of the curves and fallen down the side of the mountainroad. hbg

Hi CJ -- Glad to see you back! We are waiting for Hamburger to come up with a photo. He immediately recognized the Ronda New Bridge in Andalucia, Spain.

Hamburger, I also liked Ronda very much. That bridge is certainly distinctive. You know, I suppose, that the engineer/designer fell to his death from that bridge while reaching for his hat? And that Ronda has evidence of some of the earliest Celtic inhabitants?

I think the bullring's claim to fame (besides the Hemingway connection) is that it is the oldest round bullring. I also remember those roads as hair-raising, however the Pacific NW has similarly high-scaling routes, see below that offer the full range of moutainous road fear. These old crumbly rock walls give only the illusion of safety. I have stood just here and looked down... down... down. It is unsettling.
