Not here ehBeth. Actually Easter Sunday seems to be
the most important Christian day. (but don't quote me on it Wink )

I'm just going by what the High Catholics and High Anglicans at work told me yesterday. And that this is the only day of the year when EVERYTHING is closed here. I like it. No temptation to get out to the shops.

Only for Protestants [ Easter it is, as CJ said, for Catholics, Orthodox etc] - but it is a public holiday here (as well as all over Europe) since early medieval times.

Over here (U.S.), Easter is widely held to be the "more important" day, for Protestants too. Most of us get a Holiday on Easter.

Hmmm, I'll have to tell my Greek and Russian Orthodox neighbours they've been preparing for the wrong day. They do their big church and feasting day on the Friday before their Easter. Hmmm, maybe I won't tell them - I like getting a bit of lamb off the spit.

Everything is closed in Canada? Well, here in the capitalistic
states, nothing is ever closed. Laughing

Luckily, I only have a couple of hours to shift paperwork
around....

Yeah, Easter Sunday we're all off (except supermarket and store clerks),
but in Europe they're off on Monday as well <cry again>

Both the Greek and the Russian parishes here have services on God Friday, but the main and biggest masses are at Easter (which is on 01 May this year, btw  ).

Everything is closed today, CJ. Some stores will be open on Sunday. Government offices are closed on Monday as well.

Today's the big day here. I've seen whacks of neighbours dressed in black walking to church.

Oh my ehBeth, that's serious indeed Wink

I live high up on a hillside with a cross on top, and every year they have at 5 am Easter sunrise services at
the cross (and wake me up *argh*)

Sorry, guys, I've been staying up until the wee hours of the morning to listen to the Terri Schiavo case, because the parents are again going through the legal system in an attempt to reestablish her food and water tube. What a sad case; parents wanting to extend the life of somebody that will never return as herself. What is sadder is the fact that I would believe over 98 percent of people polled would say not to prolong their life in this condition. Desperate people who are emotionally involved rarely make good decisions. Give me a couple of minutes to find a picture. BTW, good morning all! Wink

ehBeth, That's one of several hints in the picture. Smile You're on the "right road" so to speak.... Going out to the farmers market with my wife to walk and look for easter goodies. Be back in about an hour or so.

That was indeed a nice picture Intrepid, quite inviting I might
add. Is the restaurant any good?

It is lovely, isn't it. It is in the old part of Old Quebec City. I have been then, but I never actually went inside the restaurant. Embarrassed
