That must have been spectacular, but isn't it customary
in the US that the brides parents pay for the wedding?

Not in this case. My brother has BIG $$$$s. I'm a pauper by comparison. Wink

Actually, he's even strange to me! When I used to visit him in my youth (about five lifetimes ago), he'd take me to a fast food restaurant to have a meal. I've always believed in eating well when we invite friends and family for a meal. Wink

Actually, that's not fair. When we have our 'regular' Sunday brunch, he offers to pay for it more than our rotation share.

That's how he got rich cicerone - he's a cheapskate Wink

Do you know the Biltmore in Phoenix? Also breathtaking
beautiful and built by Frank Lloyd Wright.

When I first visited the Biltmore (the one in Asheville) common folks like me could walk around the grounds for next to nothing. Nowadays, you'd have to be as rich as ci to park your car there and as rich as ci's brother to even think about the tour of the house and gardens.

Actually, $215 per night is not that bad for the Biltmore Estate. I'm a stingy on accommodations, so unless I'm on an organized tour that includes the lodging like our last trip to Asia, I stick to the cheapie places, but love to spend money on good food. Wink For example, in Siem Reap, we lodged at the Raffles Grand Hotel d'Angkor, the top hotel in the area. Probably would not have lodged there if I made plans on my own.

There is also a Raffles in Singapore, but too expensive for
my taste. Good food doesn't have to be expensive cicerone.

No, good food doesn't need to be expensive, but there are times when a good meal at a nice restaurant may cost +/-$100 per person. It's nice when our budget allows for such extravegance. Not often, but it's nice.

That's true! Especially in Europe, $ 100.- for a meal
is almost expected. But you'll get home cooked meals from
Walter, so your budget will be okay. Wink

Depends on where you dine: I got four courses (from a buffet) in a four star hotel for 18 Euros (less than $ 30).
