@articwind4,
I am not sure that every even is perceived as happening before it actually happens. For example, I do not perceive myself cutting my steak with my knife each time I want to take a bite; so at least habits are actions which almost by definition do not fit. I am sure we can find many other kinds of examples.
And it seems equally difficult to argue that my pre-conception of an event actually CAUSES it to happen. I am at a casino, and preconceive the roulette wheel landing on black 17 (and so place my bet); if it does not stop there, then obviously my preconception was not the cause. I am out walking and I trip on a thick vine which I did not see; my tripping was completely independent and I was certainly not planning to trip. Again, we could come up with all sorts of kinds or types or examples.
Moreover, one would have to explain how a Mental event could cause a Physical event.
Turning the key may be explained not by "prophecy" but by our understanding of how keys and locks and doors work in practice. We expect certain chains of events to work because they do in fact work that way, and we have no reason to suppose they will not.
