German and British scientists may have stumbled across the fabric of our universe.

Quote:
DRIVING through the countryside south of Hanover, it would be easy to miss the GEO600 experiment. From the outside, it doesn't look much: in the corner of a field stands an assortment of boxy temporary buildings, from which two long trenches emerge, at a right angle to each other, covered with corrugated iron. Underneath the metal sheets, however, lies a detector that stretches for 600 metres.

For the past seven years, this German set-up has been looking for gravitational waves - ripples in space-time thrown off by super-dense astronomical objects such as neutron stars and black holes. GEO600 has not detected any gravitational waves so far, but it might inadvertently have made the most important discovery in physics for half a century.

The short of this is that the scientists believe they have found some proof that our universe is a 3D image of another 2D universe.

This hypothesis was originally (and still is) part of M-theory (similar to String theory).

What are your thoughts on this?

@TurboLung,
As the article says

Even if it turns out that the mysterious noise is the same at high frequencies as at the lower ones, this will not constitute proof for Hogan's hypothesis. It would, however, provide a strong motivation for further study.

I am not familiar with Hogan's hypothesis to comment in any great detail.

@TurboLung,
Beyond holographic, for although our genome is being discovered to be quaternary/ternary (rather than binary) and able to encode with sound and light as well, the fact remains that our essence of informational being is still only capable of being expressed upon the material medium of flesh and blood.

The Russians join in your enthusiasm.

These siencetist's claim, reminds me of some of Hawkings last public ramblings about black holes.

Imo they have it all wrong about universes within universes, at best it could be a fatamogana ..all such optical illusionis, that they'r envisioning.
