we traveled all through the universe, sonny and me,
to other planets, other times, other dimensions of reality.
we lived in the jungle, the desert, the wild wild west,
faithful comrades, courageously fighting side by side to vanquish
the best rogues imagination could summon as enemies.
we guarded wagon trains, squelched alien invasions, chased pirates
across seas with magical names. we were sidekicks, pardners, brother
and sister, even when I was a cowboy. years go by and though other
playmates claimed center stage for both of us, nothing can
compare to those days. together we won all the battles we faced, the span
of the horizon and the call to dinner our last limitations.
ah childhood, a sweet ice cream sundae that's gone way too fast
@salima,
I love this poem. My brother and I routinely took trips to Jupiter.

i sent it to my brother and the only comment he made was 'i forgot they used to call me sonny. why did they do that?'
i hope your brother remembers!

@salima,
Yes i miss my brothers terribly, we were poor so we compensated for this by having an imagination so rich and thick i think i feel felt truly safe in imagined worlds rather than in real ones. My big brother was there the first time i flew, the first time my feet were divorced from the earth. I screamed in fear and my brother just watched as if it was something natural.
My big brother who is my hero as well as our countries both he and I ended up having the same pagan faith independantly of the other, we both found it ourselves, imagine that a corporal in her majesties service being a witch or i am sure he would rather be called a wizard, he was magic for me and my younger brother who is also in her majesties service i sadly never saw grow into the man he now is, i wish i had been a hero for him instead of such a villian.
I hate that we have grown so distant, i think i will pick up the phone soon.
My brothers are the bravest people i have ever been privileged to know.
