Hi all,

I've been unable to reach this site for weeks now,..at first I thought it was just a bug, but now I find I can log on through aol.

If I try to get here through IE, it says that there is a problem with the server,..but through aol it pops right up. I never use aol, I kind of hate it.
I am on broadband, and this shouldn't be happening. I though it might just be my desktop,..but the laptop and all of the other computers in the house do the same thing.

Kind of weird, Eh?

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Thanks!
Jerry

I'll need at least some information in order to try to help. Almost none was given.

Please at the very least say which ISP is giving exactly what error ("problem with server" is very vague).

User enviroment is also absolutely needed.

Hi Craven,

Sorry for the vague info,...I'm a bit frustrated.

Seeing as the problem is with all of the computers in the home, my initial thought is that it has to do with my modem, or wireless router. I have reset them, and the problem is still here.

I've tried pinging a2k, and get no response. I am getting instant reponse from pinging the other comps on the network, as well as other outside sites.

My ISP is comcast, I think the problem may lie there.

The error screen is very vague. Just plain white "cannot connect to site",,..no code,.no nothing...but if I am connected through aol to a2k,..I can get on with all of the other comps, through IE no problem,,....go figure!

Can you try to access the site using Opera but also using Comcast? It probably won't work but if it does it will narrow the problem down to your browser.

It's very unlikely that this is the case, thanks for pinging. That is very helpful.

From the information you currently provide I have 3 main ideas as to what the problem could be:

1) Host file

What does your Host file have in it?

See this thread fro more in host files: http://www.able2know.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13430

2) What IP did you ping? Pergaps you have an old IP bookmarked or in your hosts file.

3) Problem with comcast or some other point of failure between you and A2K.

If the above ideas turn up no leads I'll ask you to run a traceroute.

OK,

Host files are fine.

I pinged by web address, not IP number,..

I tried a traceroute,..I get nothing if Aol is off,..but if aol is on, and I am logged on to a2k,..here's the routing:

Sounds like it's router. And after that the point of failure would be Comcast. I don;t think I can do much to help you if the problem is, indeed, on that end so I'm making this closed. If you do find out anything else or want to run something by us please feel free to give us a holler.
