Government or Market?

Wow... sounds like a loaded question :p

Both have serious benefits, both have serious drawbacks. My father once said, "Any system, strictly implemented and in its pure form, would be good. The problem is that there will always be those who corrupt; so it becomes a lessor of two evils-question".

But if you put a gun to my head, I'd have to say "Government". But that's probably due to my current chagrin with the evils of the For-Profit world.

If the global free market assumes the existence of governments, neither. Both are beyond corrupt.

Global free market because that probably would mean no money.

If global means that capital can move freely, across the globe, then some sort of monetary system would be necessary - even if we are talking about privately minted currency.

Is a "Free" Market truly a market? Isn't the market a place for the exchange of goods and services for (other) goods and services - or money? If it was all really "free" what would be the point?
"I trade my worn-out shoes, for your worn-out shoes" and we both are back where we started but if I sell you my shoes for money - (ykwIg)
