The father of one of my tenants participated in the invasion.
My Uncle Ed was a "tin can sailor." He served on a destroyer that provided
artillery support for the landing. He wouldn't talk about it for a very long
time. Once he did, I realized why. I'm glad I never had to see what he saw
in the water that day.

Yes.
They were close in to shore and the water was bloody.
