RIP Rue McClanahan

Rue McClanahan (February 21, 1934 " June 3, 2010) was an American actress, known for her roles as Vivian Cavender Harmon on Maude, Fran Crowley on Mama's Family, and Blanche Devereaux on The Golden Girls.

She was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 1997, from which she completely recovered.
On November 14, 2009, she was to be honored for her lifetime achievements at an event "Golden: A Gala Tribute To Rue McClanahan" at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco, California. In March 2010, Betty White reported on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that McClanahan was doing well, and that her speech had returned to normal.

McClanahan's manager, Barbara Lawrence, said McClanahan died Wednesday June 2, 2010 at 11pm. of a stroke.

My mom was born in Healdton.... well... Wirt, Oklahoma.... which is Healdton's little sister.

Rue McClanahan was the city's claim to fame.

Sorry to hear about Rue.
I remember seeing her on the soap opera, Another World in the early 1970's. She played the evil housekeeper/nanny who was trying to poison the lady of the house because she was in love with the husband. She was quite a good villainess.

I sure hope Betty White is around for a long time to come, she is one funny lady. She seems to be in much better health than her former Golden Girls co-stars enjoyed.

I don't find the thread title funny at all.

I'm very sorry that Rue has passed away. She, like all the other Golden Girls, was a wonderful and generous woman on and off the screen.
