I find this very puzzling. An eight-year-old Dutch boy was the only survivor of a Libyan airplane's crash today. He's believed to be in "good condition." He's got a few broken bones and is being currently operated in Tripoli, the Libyan capital.
I'm like, wow. All the 100-something passengers and crew died. Just this little thing survives. How?

Pure unadulterated chance.
There is no point in this lad ever buying a lottery ticket. He won't win because he already used up all of his luck.
I feel very badly for him, really, he will spend the rest of his life trying to answer your question>
Joe(and it was just chance.)Nation
I am reminded of the 1987 crash of Northwest Flight 255 in Detroit, Michigan, in which only a 4-year-old girl survived while 156 others died.
Just Google: child lone survivor of plane crash.
You will be surprised at the number of lone child survivors of plane crashes world-wide.
It's probably the same reason kids don't suffer from whip lash. They don't tense up and aren't afraid of what's about to hit them, because they don't know any better. Kids routinely survive car accidents and the like because they sail through the impact, they don't have any fear.
@Ceili,
I agree with this theory, but were there any other kids on the plane?
