@Chumly,
Why don't you buy these gel like inserts and put them in the refrigerator
over night. In the morning you put them in your shoes and it should keep
you cool for quite a while.

Only buy good leather shoes with lace-up so your feet don't have room
to wiggle around. It would cause more friction for the feet to get hotter.

Other than that, fry an egg on it! Very Happy

@CalamityJane,
I just had a weird idea based on your weird idea; I have a mini-fridge in my office and thus could put shoes in it.

I was thinking of those gel inserts too, but can't think of how long they would stay cold when touching hot feet.

Worth a try, definitely.

@Chumly,
OH! I'm searching for well ventilated shoes because there IS a name for this VERY rare condition. And you MUST keep your feet cool, or it will get worse over the years. The name is erythromelalgia. I just got diagnosed, per I found the information myself, just two weeks ago. My doctor had never heard of it and complimented me for figuring it out. I'd been going to the doctors since 2005 trying to figure out what was wrong, as it's incredibly painful when there's a flair up. Good luck and I hope you read this, as I see it's an old thread.

That's why your feet get hot, Chumly.
That's why mine do, too, if I'm on my feet & on the run all day.
They don't, if say, if I'm sitting at a computer for hours.

Have you ever considered getting shoes made especially for you by a proper shoe maker? (Tasteful shoes of course! Wink )
They might cost considerably more, but once you've figured out what best suits your feet, the cost might be well worth it.

Just discovered this is a 2010 thread! Smile
You've probably figured out what to do long before now!

It turned out that part of the problem was using Nizoral shampoo for my itchy scalp because it made my feet burn. I switched to using honey on my hair and my scalp is much happier as are my feet now.

I still have not really found the ultimate cool shoe, and my feet still do get too hot but things are better. An honest-to-god shoemaker is a spiffy idea!
