@Ragman,

great game!
after going up 5-zip, SP dubront had a melt down, giving up four runs in a nightmarish third,
but the bullpen was good enough to hold on...

@Region Philbis,
That's a great photo of you two. Can't beat that. Your weather held out, too?

Ellsbury and Victorino had to leave the game with some little injuries?

Their best reliever can't be touched. I finally learned his whole name...Koji Uehara. Opp. batting avg against him is under .100, I theenk!

@Ragman,

we got soaked on the way over, but it cleared up by game time.
it was humid as hell, though... still is.

sounds like minor injuries -- both should be playing today...

koji has seamlessly moved into the closer's role.
like rivera, his cutter is devastating -- even when you know it's coming, you just can't hit the gosh-darn thing!

compared to a year ago, i can state first-hand that the energy has indeed returned to the ballpahk...

It must have been your strength and guidance that helped the Red Sox win this game RP and Jespah! How's about going on the road with the Sox to all of their road games to start a winning streak? Smile

@Region Philbis,
... and Uehara was nasty as you can get. Tigers swung at pitches out of the strike zone. 61.1 innings, 29 hits 83K. Ummm...WTH?

Lester is the strongest I've seen him this year. Great command (72% strikes) and 9Ks and no walks, lowered his ERA to 1.71.and beat the best SP in baseball.

20-4 shellacking!
eight dingers -- which either ties or breaks a club record -- including two by papi, who recorded his 2000th career hit.

now onto da bronx...

* ties the team record set in 1977.
homers by seven different batters, however, is a new team record...

@Region Philbis,
I'm a firm believer that this win against the D-Tiger's ace, Scherzer had 'legs'. It was a strong motivator. Plus, as an offensive team, they were overdue for one of those breakout games.

However, mercy! They went medieval on their asses.

Ellsbury is out indefinitely with foot injury after fouling off a ball. They were taking this day-to-day, but right now they are seeking 2nd opinions on the seriousness of the injury. He reinjured (inflammation and swelling) the foot on the basepaths the other night.

As good as they've been going, I'm shaking in mah boots about the best leadoff hitter and base runner not being there for the rest of the season. Bradley has been called up to fill in for Jake.

@Ragman,

doesn't sound too serious.

"We feel like he'll return this year," Farrell said. "He's in a boot right now, and will be for the time being.
We feel like he'll be back to us before this year is out. We're hopeful of the regular season."

the rest might do him some good -- recharge those power cells in his laigs...
