What a different reality that team has had - to turn the culture around 180 degrees in such a short time. Not just the level of talent...it goes far beyond that. It's their attitude and passion to win and keep on trying 'til the very last out.

I think they should give the team's execs an award for the Miracle on Yawkey Way!

Congratulations to the Red Sox for being 1st on getting to the playoffs this season. They had a great year and played darn well.
(getting rid of Valentine helped a lot too, just on the mindset)

Odd thing is I really am happy for them Confused

If you're in pennant race withdrawal there's always seeding to worry about.

I did little research into the tie-break procedure, and it's unclear who'd have the tie-break between us an the Athletics.
We're 1.5 games up as I write this, just 1 up in the loss column.

(Neither team wants Detroit in the first round.)

this will be my second playoff game ever, and first in 25 years...

on 10/9/88, the mets lost to LAD 5-4 in game four of the NLCS.

two current managers did late-inning damage to help the dodgers win --
mike scoscia hit a two-run dinger off gooden in the 9th, and then kirk gibson hit a solo shot off mcdowell in the 12th...
