@Region Philbis,
Dr. Andrews should set up a/an helipad at his office, if he doesn't already have one.
Sure hope Bailey blossoms.
@Region Philbis,
I heard that. World famous Dr. James Andrews has him as a patient. Nasty tear.
Hope someone can surface from either the minors..or maybe....Tazawa shows he's got the lion in him needed to be a closer (along side Bailey)? He's got great control (greater than a 6:1 K/BB) . He's just not really beefy but his pitches got some mustard on 'em.
Oddly, now their hitting is not doing the job lately. They're stranding runners by the boatload.... exclusive of yesterday's 5-0 pitching masterpiece.
@Ragman,
i'd rather see tazawa and uehara pitch the 7th and 8th -- when games are often decided,
and then let bailey blow people away in the 9th...
@Region Philbis,
Agreed. However, they utilize them, they all seem to have pretty good stuff.
from 2010 -- victor tormenting beltre.
good times...
@Region Philbis,
Thanks for sharing that! Being a life-long Sawxer I loved that moment of shenanigans and behind-the-sends human-ness between them. I now miss Terry even more. It's just not right that he's not still the Red Sox manager.
I do like Farrell a lot 'cause he's great (gets results) and he will resurrect them yet...but there was such an injustice that Terry was run out of town on a rail. That treatment should be reserved for the likes of ...you-know-who.
Long live Francona. Long may you wave the bloody sock!
@Region Philbis,
Wonder if that ball he hit is in orbit still?
perfect form on the helmet punt walk-off, courtesy Mr Jonny Gomes...
last day of june... let's see where we stand...
sawx got their 50th win today, again in walk-off fashion.
50-34 is the best record in the AL; third best record overall, behind (surprising) pittsburgh & (unsurprising) st. louis.
28-16 @ home; 22-18 on the road.
plus-80 run differential, second only to the cards, who are a ridiculous plus-114.
i like what i'm seeing this year.
farrell came in, did a re-set and order was quickly restored.
the coaching staff emphasizes fundamentals and teamwork, two things sorely lacking last year.
injuries have not set the team like they've done in the past.
the bench is pretty deep, and there are some major-league caliber players @ triple-A.
closer remains the weak spot, and i don't think the sawx get very far without stabilizing that position...
@Region Philbis,
Thanks for those stats and for that perspective.
I agree 100% about the need for a high caliber closer.
I'm looking to see whom Cards have as their closer and his stats.
Righty, Edward Mujica has 21 saves and looks stat-wise pretty unhittable. Plus they've got Rosenthal who has 17 holds.
@Ragman,
the cards have an excellent pitching system in place, started by dave duncan and tony larussa...
i didn't realize this -- the sawx have been above .500 all season.
they won their first two games, and haven't looked back since...
@Region Philbis,
And they play in the toughest division in the league, too.
Plus, all of the players send their mom's Mother's Day cards. Oh yeah, and no one has been arrested (today).
