@Region Philbis,
And that's his nickname over here, ever since he played with the Yucatán Lions and the Monterrey Sultans in the Mexican League (summer)... and the Culiacán Tomateros in the Pacific League (winter).

He wears number 91 because he's a huge fan of the Chicago Bulls. 91 being the year of their first championship.

@Region Philbis,
Didn't know that! But it surely tells you he's a hell of a Bull's fan.

A peek at the uniforms the Red Sox will wear today.
They replaced "Red Sox" with "BOSTON" on their home whites to pay tribute.
The jerseys will be auctioned off to benefit The One Fund Boston.

@Region Philbis,
That was what had been originally quoted about RP Mitch 'Wild Thing' Williams. Loved him, too.

So Glad Sox are having some good luck, good attitude and players that are known for smoothing other than how many hot wings they can eat in the dugout. Oh yes, and that they have a good manager that not only knows pitchers/pitching well, but doesn't enflame problems and make a bad scrape on the knee need emergency room, a priest and a coroner.

Neil Diamond donating to victims

Neil Diamond is donating this week's sales from "Sweet Caroline" after the tune became
a source of comfort following the explosions at the Boston Marathon.

Sales from Diamond's song are up by 597 percent, Nielsen SoundScan said Wednesday.
Diamond's representative said the singer will donate the recent sales to marathon bombing
victims.

"Sweet Caroline" sold 19,000 tracks this week. It sold 2,800 tracks the previous week and
1.75 million tracks to date.

The crowd-pleasing song is a staple of Boston Red Sox games. It makes no specific mention
of Boston or the Red Sox, but the team started playing it regularly at Fenway Park more than
a decade ago and fans took to it.

The New York Yankees, Toronto Raptors and other professional sports teams also
have played the song at games in the days after the deadly blasts April 15.

@Region Philbis,
"Bailey struck out the side, locking up a 6-5 victory.

“That,” pitching coach Juan Nieves said, “was a man’s save.”

With Joel Hanrahan on the disabled list, Bailey has converted five of six save chances for the Red Sox. The 14-7 Sox are 10-2 in the games he has appeared in.

Over 11⅓ innings, Bailey has given up two runs on five hits and struck out 20.

“When you look at him, he looks like he’s pitching with his hair on fire,” manager John Farrell said. “But he’s out there with a definite plan and he’s able to execute it.”

On Wednesday, Bailey’s fastball was 94-96 miles per hour. "

@Region Philbis,
Yay! I'll add nothing cynical here. They are dominating (now) in just about every criteria... including the all-important eye test. They look good winning and win in the clutch.

Who ARE those guys?

I need hitters bad. I'm wanting to put some Red Sawxers on my fantasy team, though I'd hate to cripple my staff in order to get Pedroia or Ellsbury. Hmmm...Nava? Mebbe Big Papi? As for Relief Pitchers who rack up saves...Bailley...but no one in their right mind would or should give him up.

Joel Hanrahan to see Dr. Andrews

The inside of his right elbow bruised and badly discolored, Boston Red Sox reliever Joel Hanrahan
expressed concern Wednesday night that he may have sustained an injury more serious than
originally thought.

Hanrahan said he plans to visit noted orthopedist Dr. James Andrews on Friday, and that the results
of the tests administered to him here after he came out of Monday night's game have already been
sent to Andrews and may be sent to orthopedist David Altchek, the Mets' team physician with whom
the Sox medical staff already has consulted.

The concern is that the flexor-pronator strain of his forearm could also involve damage to the ulnar
collateral ligament, which in a worst-case scenario could mean Tommy John reconstructive surgery.
