Pedroia surgery is likely... barring an unlikely sweep at the Trop this weekend, we can fuhgeddaboud the playoffs this year...

@Region Philbis,
It seems like there's 30 games left in the season, the Sox play the Rays 3 more times and the Cranks 6 more times. 7 games back might be difficult but not impossible. If only the Mets can give what ails them the past couple of years ... say sneeze or cough on one of the Ray's or Crank's players then the Sox can pull it off.

@tsarstepan,

too many injuries and not enough games left.
would take a miracle of biblical proportions...

I know I'm not welcome here. But I'm here anyway.

This season is making me a noivous wreck.

@Roberta,

why so noivous?
you're team is in, it's just a matter of deciding who gets the pennant, and who gets the wildcard...

@Region Philbis,
True (probably). I just don't like this tie, even-Steven, no one's in first stuff. Makes me noivous.

@Region Philbis,

awful game, but the manny-vs-papelbon atbat was worth price of admission.
all game long you can hear the din of coversation @ fenway, but just before each pitch to manny was dead silence.
37,500 people were all quietly paying attention to the action on the field...

@Region Philbis,
Even the boorish, drunk White Sox fans in front of us, including the idiot who yelled at Paul Konerko, "Konerko, make me a bonerko!" Then he had to add, "I'm not a homo!"

A great plea to keep potential Hall of Fame candidate Jacoby Ellsbury:

@tsarstepan,

they might cut him loose, what with young kalish waiting in the wings.
this year's been a bust.
they would miss his base-running and defense, but not much else...

@Region Philbis,
Just seen Fenway Park give an Oscar worthy performance in The Town! Ya gotta see this crime thriller, if only for the love of Boston and Fenway Park!

@Region Philbis,
Maybe the Queens and Brooklyn bred tornadoes will return to vacuum up the entire Yankees team giving the Sox an automatic entry to the playoffs? Sound fair? Evil or Very Mad

@tsarstepan,

hughes wasn't supposed to start for them last night, but they threw him in there knowing a sweep would make them have to work harder this week to clinch...

89 wins -- one less than AL west first place texas -- ain't too shabby when you factor in all the injuries...
theo will have a busy offseason -- lots of players to make decisions on.
hoping he re-signs beltre & martinez... ortiz should be back @ DH...
i think they're ready to make bard the closer.
pap had a september to forget, meltdown after meltdown...
there have been murmurings that tito should be AL manager of the year.
he's never won it, which is odd -- he's one of the best.
he did right by lowell, wakefield and varitek this weekend -- all of whom may've played their last game in a sawx uni...

@Region Philbis,
Steppin into the box to leave a little shrine for the Sawx for their manly whipping of the Yanks on the last day. The Rays thank thee.

@panzade,
Yer welcome although we'd've preferred extending the season and playing the Rays of course.

Please go crush the Jinkies.* Thank you.
