@Region Philbis,
I like the choice as the 2 catchers they were using didn’t add up to one good offensive defensive combination. Let’s hope his wrist inflammation goes away. Historicall, when the Sox have a great catcher, they win the big ones. I will be looking fwd to what happens.

@Region Philbis,
Smiling big-time. Their pitchers had a momentary brush with danger but it just the result sweeter in the end.

@Ragman,

4-0 was your happy final last night.

Sonny Gray (14-2, 2.78 ERA) won his AL-leading 14th.

per ESPN, sawx have won seven straight, 25 of 28, and nine consecutive series, the second-longest streak in franchise history
behind an eleven series run in 1912 ...

@Ragman,

wow... crazy back and forth game last night!

https://i.ibb.co/395WncN0/capture.jpg

eight wins in a row...

ten series wins in a row...

sawx became the first team in MLB history to score in five consecutive innings in the ninth inning or later, according to Elias Sports Bureau...

thirteen straight wins against teams that entered the game with a winning record, tied for the longest streak by any team in the expansion era
(since 1961)...

we have swept six series against first-place teams, also a single-season high in the expansion era, per Elias...

@Region Philbis,
Sawx winning the close ones is very important. The fact that it was Bello that got the win,is frosting on the cake.

I read further in your note about all of those other firsts. These are quite significant !

@Ragman,

SP Payton Tolle had fourteen K's in six innings of work as the sawx stomped the A's 13-1.

nine straight wins... NYY also won, so we're still a half game back...

@Region Philbis,
Unquestionably that makes the Sawx the strongest pitching staff, and definitely strongest starters. Notably without Crochet even being in the lineup.

@Ragman,
Do you have anything like "clickgate" over there?

There is quite a furore about a minor league cricket match where one of the fielders clicked his fingers to imitate the bat nicking the ball, resulting in the opposing playerbeing caught out.

A lot of people a very, unnecessarily, angry about this.

Google "clickgate" or "Clicky Ponting" for the full story.

baseball is full of instances where players and coaches try stuff like that...

one example that comes to mind --

A-Rod yells "Ha, I got it!" during a pop-up to distract Blue Jays

@Region Philbis,
Is there an outcry when it happens, or is it just part of the game?

If something like this happened in football nobody would notice, but cricket is supposed to be the epitome of fair play. At least that's what its supporters think.

@izzythepush,

seems to just be part of the game now.

back in the day, if you did something fishy you could expect a pitch close to your chin the next time you came up to bat...

There is something sneaky that occurs not that often but it’s called the “hidden ball” trick. At some point soon either I’ll post or someone else can post the details. Basically it’s a matter of a base runner being in attentive as to who has possession of the ball, and they end up getting tagged out due to subterfuge.
