Not sure what you're suggesting or why your focus is on me, but I'll respond with a Bronx cheer.

possible johnny damon return for the playoff push!
if nothing else, would be good for TV ratings.

not likely, though, judging by his comments last night...

I gotta say, Francona is doing a hell of a job with the wounded ducks he's got for a team

@panzade,

it would really help if your Rays would lose once in a while...

@Region Philbis,
We're taking up a collection in Florida; to bring Manny to Tampa...
fact is...the Sawx are in good shape for a wild card spot...if Terry can keep the ship from foundering.

I might even contribute to that.
Careful what you wish for.

@Region Philbis,
I was wondering about Damon.

So let the slug stay in Detroit and drown in the quicksand of the under 500 team. I didn't have any hard feelings when he left in 2005 but strangely now that's he's rejecting a possible return....

Would Manny make a difference if he's taken by the White Sox?

yeah, he would make an immediate splash with an impressive array of offense,
followed by multiple minor leg injuries that would obliterate team chemistry,
and the chi-sox would prolly miss the playoffs as a result...

@Region Philbis,
I've never quite understood the ins and outs of sports contracts. Nor have
I wanted to understand them. But it seems that next season Manny is up
for grabs so if the Pale Hose claim him, he's only there for a cup of coffee.
That's only enough time for the Good-Manny show. So maybe it's a good
deal.

@George,

been wondering about that too.
why do late-season pick-ups tend to get moved in the offseason?

if a team thinks that a player in his prime can put them over the (playoff) hump, why not keep him around for another go at it the following year?

yeah, it's cheaper not to keep him.
but is it worth it to risk having a mediocre team the following year?
