I don't understand why they don't just go to the players (I use the term loosely) and say:
"Boyos, go home. We'll send you half wages for what was going to be the rest of the season and save you any further embarrassment. We're going to rent this place out to the Little Sisters of the Poor for their Bingo Tournament of Champions ensuring that, at least for those two weeks, someone from the neighborhood of Boston will do some winning."

Beckett will be gone by the upcoming trading deadline ...providing of course that another team is willing to give up someone of reasonable value.

The righthander is now 5-9 and has one victory in his last nine starts.

According to my math re attaining AL East Wild Card spot ... the Red Sox have about 63 games left. I think they probably need to win about 62-65% of the games left to finish ahead of the others ...somewhere around 55% for the season.

Based the trend this season I'd say it'll happen when when pigs fly.
