@Region Philbis,
That ball was crushed. The pitch was so in his wheelhouse.

@Ragman,

girardi "didn't care for" the way papi left the batter's box.

expecting him to get a fastball in the ribs tonight, partially as pay back for texiera's bruised knee (courtesy of a lester cutter)...

@Region Philbis,
'...girardi "didn't care for" the way papi left the batter's box...'

There are some behaviors that are way out of line but IMO Papi slinging the bat is not one of them. Seems to me that Girardi was hypersensitive about that.
I don't blame him for being angry about the two hit batters, though.

@jjorge,

sometimes it's the manager backing his pitcher.
papi plays the game the right way -- he's not trying to show up the other team...

he drilled another one last night.
can't help but wonder what his power numbers would look like with a short porch in right...

sawx in first place by a game!
beckett goes for the sweep against sabathia tonight...

Let's talk about baseball's active wins leader. Wakefield.
That's right I said Wakefield! 19 wins ahead of Halladay.
He's never made more than 4.6 million but he's closing in on 200 wins.
I'm raising my Sam Adams to you Tim. You're the best!

@Region Philbis,
Oh, crap! Not to be a Debby-Downer, but Francona says Dice-K is not going for the operation (Tommy John surgery) on his elbow. Now what?!

Oh and Tim Wakefield in the previous Yankees game covered first base and sprinted over to help tag out one of the fastest runners in baseball speeding down the line. He fell over awkwardly afterwards. Someone better remind him he's 44. Gotta love this guy!

Back to the program. Go Sawx! Pedroia's out of the lineup with a nagging injury. Let's hope he'll be OK. I so enjoy the way he plays ball. He is such a spark in the offense...but so is Ellsbury (again).

win streak up to 7 -- only the phillies have a better record than our 37-26 at the moment.
not too shabby considering how we started...

make it 8 straight after a today's 16-4 shellacking of the jays.
papi and tek each hit 3-run bombs in the 5th, and lackey had 8 k's in 6 innings of work...

@Region Philbis,
I thought I was seeing yesterdays results when I saw the score of 14-1 in the 8th inning today. Today Youklis is hitting his ass off now, too.

Mercy! Have they declared war on the whole league?

last night beckett pitched the best game nobody saw --
1-hit complete game shutout, no walks, 6 K's.

the one hit was a squibby infield hit in the 3rd inning...

@Region Philbis,
The hit was the cheapest 3-iron shot in 3rd inning. Beckett looks pretty good in June, dudn't he?
