Rain soft unit stuck in limbo

Have a Rainsoft "Q2" system we have owned since1994, have had little problems have kept filters changed on regular basis. It has stopped regenerating. The tank has water in it but thats it. A serviceman made regular maintanence call, checked it said it was probably the computer. I really don"t have the 1700.00 he said a new one would be, are their such things a rebuilt ones?
