@Seed,
iOS is more secure as compared to the Android reason because iOS is based on a closed source platform whereas Android is based on the open source platform.

iOS app releases first compared to the Android app reason because iOS is based on C++/Swift language (less coding is required) whereas Android is based on the Java (a large piece of coding is required).

iOS apps are more profitable because it's major market share is in the US & UK whereas Android market share is in Asia. Due to the difference between the per capita income of both continents iOS app generates more revenue.

@Seed,
CONS : both have updates that prevents older applications ( and newer ) from running.
Most applications have to be downloaded from the store otherwise apps are lost forever in time and not preserved.
Till this day their has not been any real iOS emulators at all.

iOS : Is a platform for people to fit in. Like the OSX is able to be for computer programmers and consumers rather then having a middle-ground like Windows. If something gets updated chances are there are no other versions of it.

Android : Is able to run off most computers. Most applications could be downloaded without google store. Is considered the penny-pinchers ( poor persons ) device.
