Can eyeglasses be bought with the purchaser's name on them. In this way, if I lose my glasses they could be returned to me.
@gollum,
What is to prevent you from writing your name on the frame?

He cant see without his glasses.
@gollum,
Depending on the width of the arms of your glasses, you could have someone engrave your name and phone number into the inside side of the arms.
Merry Andrew-
The surface of the eyeglass frame does not absorb ink.

Who is the someone who does such work?
@gollum,
Any jeweler should have the proper equipment. It's a good idea based on how much glasses cost today. I would not think to look for ID, but maybe you can start a trend
@gollum,
In the old days, you used to be able to go to the police departments locally and borrow their engravers to mark valuables for insurance purposes.
Go to a local jeweler and ask him/her to do the work for you.
