It really looks like a set-up. I think it was just a mean trick put together by some immature co-worker
and that's the guy who should be fired. I would not call the photos porn,
they were actually rather tasteful as these things go.
If thay were NOT, then what 's all the fuss threatening his job,
if he was only opening ordinary email with pictures of people?

Does some corporation have a rule that when u r on-the-job,
u r not supposed to see any pictures of any people?

I agree with some of this, but the problem is that it's possible to obfuscate E-mail attachments. Even savvy users can be fooled by someone deliberately misleading them as to an attachment's content.

Well he opens one after another and stares at them for seconds at a time.

In any case, even though I think that any company has a right to fire a guy for something like this I'm glad he didn't lose his job. I think the campaign to save his job was weird though, so many people are fired for so much less. Does anyone know if there was there an external campaign to fire him or something?

I dont believe there was any pressure from outside the organisation to fire stupid dave, except for the general embarresment caused to the organisation by an employees actions.

i really dont believe he was aware of the camera work happening in the office.
