I want a good water softener for my house. What do you think of the magnetic ones? Culligan is out of the question due to bad experience. Thanks, Bev

Bev,
I spent a lot of time looking into softeners and went with a salt unit. The other types of softeners do not remove the hardness; they just change the composition of the calcium and magnesium. I’ve read mixed reviews on how well the salt less ones perform and I have a friend who tried one and it did not work well for him.

If you go with salt, you will get a lot of recommendations on the type of unit. My only recommendation would be is to define what you need and see which unit fits the bill the best.

Good luck,
