The Desert Island Game

I think the first few would have to be food-related.

A distillery or something for water.

A good fishing kit.

A good knife.

Then shelter:

A good big waterproof tarp.

Then, hmm, a smartphone with really good reception?

A charged cell phone (so I can call for help)

A genie (so I can ask for anything I want)

A bar with bartender (so I can have a tropical party)

A luxury hotel fully staffed (again for my tropical party)

And all my friends (again party)

You're all assuming this is plane crash - if so then you would have access to all the luggage (of course assuming that the luggage washes ashore).

Three things will kill you quick on a desert island.
Lack of water
Lack of food (hence the fishing kit)
and
Infections from cuts.

With a bar of soap you can clean out any skin breaks and clean your pathetic little collection of clothes to remove all the critters that will attack and attack and attack. (Their bites will get inflected.)

CBS-Survivor has actually been a fairly good teacher tool to what it takes to get by. (Actual strandees would love to have a flint/steel AND a cooking pot. They have to make do a la Castaway by making fire with the rubbing sticks method. Try that sometime, the next time you are on a camping trip and have LOTS of time.)

I assume there would be a cove on this island, for the fact that I assume that cove is to island as car is to gas.

A cove means fresh water. Fresh water means that you wouldn't need the distillery.

Cool.

But now you're no longer on a deserted island.

Well, that's wrong. A desert island has no water. But, just for grins, let's go back to Castaway.
He finds a cave with a dripping spring. WoW.
(very little chance of that actually occuring in real life.)
You'll still need fire to boil the water unless you want to spend your last moments watching all your fluids flush from you in a bout after bout of dysentary.

Do we get to pack people with us, or is that too weird?

If we do then I will miss RP but will have to instead pack Les Stroud with me. I don't even mind being filmed or hearing him play the harmonica, but no hanky-panky.

Then also, hmm, a smart phone with perfect reception and unlimited power. I'd also like a spice rack as eating things that are salty or coconut-flavored will get old awfully quickly. Plus a Kindle or other reader-type device, again with unlimited power and all that.

Dunno what the fifth would be. Perhaps lay in a serious supply of alky-hol to have with all of that cumin-flavored shrimp and oregano-basil-lemon hearts of palm.

Yeah - I guess I would have to add an ice skate to my list of necessities.
