@Rockhead,
I don't quite know (being a diplomatic person by nature Wink ) how to respond to your "angry murricans" comment, Rocky.

People will read the thread in the morning.

And I hate it when people digress from the the topic of threads that matter to me.

Can you use past tense for a time in your future?

Don't you think this dead horse has been sufficiently flogged, Miss Olga?

@Setanta,
Well, you know, I wouldn't be at all certain of that, Set!

I'm absolutely serious about that.

Very likely not.

What good would that do? At no point did you retract your accusation that KFC was run by Cowards and Chickens or your silly submission that "the U.S. is not the only culture on the planet"... as if a private company making fiscally sound decisions implies any such thing.

Seriously, how hypersensitive do you have to be before you think a Kentucky based company, called Kentucky Fried Chicken, shouldn’t be concerned about their image in Kentucky, U.S.A.?

The globally aired commercial is too easily misinterpreted as racist in a 300,000,000 person market place, so of course it was pulled. You are apparently suffering from a National Napoleonic complex if you can’t see the obvious logic in minimizing the risk of offending such a significant number of customers in your own backyard.

To use this obviously fiscally sound decision by a private company as a platform to bash the citizens of the U.S. in general is as absurd as it is uncalled for.

So, just to update you all, KFC ads for their cricket sponsorship are running again, but you'll be pleased to know that, despite the series being Aus v West Indies, no darker skinned people of any kind are appearing in the ads.
All's well that ends well, huh.

@Eorl,
Blue Gum? Good thing they didn't run it by me first. Never heard of it, and would be surprised to hear both words in the same sentence. You're sure someone isn't just making this up to see how you react?

This one is obscure for me. Perhaps more regional in the USA? Perhaps a more dated term/slur? I've never heard it before.

I'm aware that blue gums in certain parts of the US can be somewhat a invasive species.
