for the sake of argument does anyone after all these years get tired of all the insulting and arguing over faith and religion?

@husker,
I don't personally dish out the insults but the deep seated strain of hypocrisy that powers these war of words riddled threads can be fun yet exhausting to read.

I 'm not tired of it because I seldom pay any attention to it.

The believers cling to their myths. We, the rest of us, would let them cling if they would stop killing each other, and us, on a regular basis.

I personally don't have any hope that their faith and the carnage it brings to the world will fade anytime soon.

@husker,
I don't get tired of it. People can have their beliefs. I don't push my beliefs on anyone and I don't want anyone to push their beliefs on me.

Even the vast majority of atheists cling to their myths - they just don't know it. They believe themselves logically superior withouts seeing within, the same flaws.

I have the same flaws...they are interesting to find, and just as interesting to build new ones.

Can't speak for others, but this appears to me to be an attempt to put atheists back in the box after they have gotten out. Too late. It can't be done.

@edgarblythe,
It does look like that doesn't it, though in reality I wouldn't limit it to just aethiests. The only thing I have to add to that is that I agree...as far as I can work out, even those who understand actually need to use their myths to function each day.

What others call myths, I call expressions of instinct, as per Jung and Phil Wylie.

@edgarblythe,
but they are a combination of instinct and learned expressions - the myths being the learned expressions part.

@husker,
Instincts? As in genetic instincts to survive (fear/food/self-preservation), reproduce (attraction to mate, mating ritual, sex), protect the young (raising kids and all that entails), and the social instincts (bonding/acceptance/trust/friendship/pecking order/alpha male). That sort of thing (that's just made up off the top of my head btw)

wait,,

people still argue over that?

What a dumb ******* thing to do.
Im glad Im strong enough in my convictions to not give a **** what someone else things. Nor am I arrogant enough to try to force it on someone.

I understand those who are not very strong minded will always want to argue and attempt to prove their point. Its just a walk they need to do to learn what they are , who they will be and what they want to believe. That walk does not have to include me.

Arguing over religion is a choice. And those who have better things to do wont do it.

If people hadn't you wouldn't be here expressing your Stoical idea. Resignation has a very long history. All woeful.
