buying upgrade to business class on board emirates

I have been told that on Emirates flights, upon availability is possible to buy an upgrade to business class (from economy) on board directly from the crew. it also seems to be cheaper than buying before departure. can anybody kindly help? thanks a lot.

It doesn't seem this way. Here is the info from the Emirates Airlines

or it sounds like members of the aircrew might be earning some extra cash on the side if there are seats available

Hi, you could do it with Thai Airways, but I am sure most flights if you ask on board they will be happy to if there are availabilities.
